To help you home in on what you can to do to encourage your baby’s brain development at every stage of growth, i try to put together the following age activity guide. Age: Birth to 4 months Read; make silly faces; tickle the body; slowly move objects in front of your baby’s eyes, like a brightly colored rattle; sing simple songs and nursery rhymes with repetitive phrases; narrate everything you and your baby will do, such as “We are going in the car now; we are putting you in the car seat; Mommy is getting into the car.” Age: 4 to 6 months Help baby hug stuffed animals; stack things (like plastic blocks) and let your baby knock them down; play music with different rhythms; show your baby books with brightly colored pictures; let your baby feel objects with different textures. Age: 6 to 18 months Talk and interact face-to-face to increase connections between sounds and words; point to familiar people and objects and repeat names; sing songs with repetitive verses and hand motions; play hide and seek. Age 18 to 24 months Play simple recognition games like “spot the yellow car” or ” the red flower,” or put three objects in front of your child and say “Give me the …”; talk directly to your baby as much as possible; introduce your child to writing tools such as crayons and paper; ask “where and what” when reading to your child; encourage some independent play with favorite toys. Age: 24 to 36 months Lavish your child with praise and encouragement as he or she perfects motor skills; bolster your child’s imagination by encouraging new ways to use toys; help your child incorporate ‘real life’ activities into play, such as pretending to talk on the phone, drive a car, have a tea party; when reading, incorporate your child into the story by asking questions; point to words while you read to your child; encourage identification of words on the page or their sound. Ages 3 to 5: Teach sharing by example; play simple board games to foster learning rules and skills; limit TV/video watching to one to two hours per day, and watch with your child to make it interactive. As children advance, offer simple choices (read a book or do a puzzle); limit the use of the word “no” and encourage exploration and natural curiosity; give your child respect and attention and show patience as your child tries to explain his or her new experiences; make time each day to sit with your child and discuss what he or she did that day, encouraging your child to explain and explore new experiences. |

A baby is as sensible to its surroundings as any other adult. They will be affected by the way their surrounding looks like. A well-designed baby room décor can be really helpful in raising your kid. Brightsbaby infant care room will definitely take into consideration of all points mentioned before i decide on how to decorates the infant room. I have many ideas rights now, but would like to show you , the room before i starts to decorates it, stay tune for me to post up nicely done room yah..I’m sure many of you would have did a better job than me, feel free to shares ideas here, of cos cheapest can makes greatest ideas too! Before Color is an important factor, personally i loves purple colour, therefore i painted the room in 2 colour tone.should not have too much base colour. Purple give a soft and gentle colors. Don’t choose too loud and bright colors, because they will not sooth the atmosphere. But the baby toys should be bright: because babies really enjoy seeing and playing with bright and shiny things. The walls and the wallpapers should be relaxing though. Babies would feel stressed if they were put in a bright baby room decoration, and would have sleep problems, panic attacks, eating deficiency and so on. You should also choose the baby room décor in accordance with the whole atmosphere of your house. It is up to you to make the baby room part of your home. The theme of the baby room should be carefully considered. It may by floral or animal theme, because babies really like animals and flowers. Animals are preferable, though, because they are more lively and vivid, and they can make your baby react more actively at its environment. Choose the animal decorations for the wallpapers, the blanket, the curtains. Animals are fun for everyone, and moreover, they give the babies something to look at while they are lying in their beds or cribs. You can also pick up the night sky theme, which is very relaxing for a sound sleep. Deep blue is used to decorate the walls and ceiling. The pictures of stars and planets can give the baby a sense of wonder, and it will like it immensely. Babies can be touched by the wondrous universe, dont forget that! A night sky decoration will make your baby a dreamer even from this early age on! i not going to post up too much references pictures here therefore if you have a store selling walldecal for babies. Advertorial at Brightsbaby.com will reserved the blog space for you. email enquiries@brightsbaby.com , quote remark as advertorial for walldecal. Sponsorship are welcome:) |

Now that we’ve taken care of Mom’s physical and emotional wellbeing, which have a direct impact on the health of the baby, it’s time to find out how we can stimulate the baby’s awakening senses – in appropriate ways and at appropriate times. The Experts section covers fetal stimulation programs designed by leading authorities in the field of prenatal education. But you can also create your own program very easily. Here’s what you need to know: Taste/smell stimulation Your baby can taste the amniotic fluid that surrounds her. So Mom, why not take this opportunity to give your little one as many taste and smell sensations as possible? Not only are these a form of stimulation, but experts believe that babies who experience a variety of taste-smells in the womb are likely to be more accepting of a variety of foods after birth. Touch stimulation As soon as you can feel the baby through Mom’s pregnant belly, you will find it only natural to engage in touch stimulation. If your baby pushes out his foot, hand or bottom, then by all means push gently back. You can also try lightly massaging your baby. It’s fun to see how your baby reacts to these activities, and especially how her reactions change over the course of the pregnancy. Light stimulation Opinion is divided over whether it’s a good idea to shine a flashlight on a pregnant belly. While some believe it’s harmless fun, medical professionals caution that bright lights can damage a young baby’s eyes. Besides that, it’s possible that using a flashlight will disturb your baby’s sleep. To be on the safe side, only use a flashlight during the last month of pregnancy, and when your baby is awake and active. Many parents enjoy this activity because it provokes such a strong reaction in their baby! One mom used the light to keep her baby awake for a longer period in the evening. This in turn helped both baby and mom sleep better at night! |
In the womb If your baby hasn’t been born yet, the Stimulating the Senses article in Brightsbaby’s Prenatal Education section is for you. Talking, singing and reading to your baby are some of the most important things you can do before she is born. All these activities will help her get to know you that bit better, easing the transition from the womb to the world. Indeed, at any age, talking, singing and reading aloud remain some of the most important ways of providing stimulation for your baby as well as strengthening the parent-child bond. And let’s not forget physical affection: hugs, cuddles and kisses all help a child feel secure and loved. Such positive early experiences, when they happen consistently, profoundly affect brain development in ways that help shape a person’s mental, emotional and physical health for life. |

Birth is often described as a miracle. What is even more miraculous though is everything that happens in the nine months preceding your baby’s arrival! Read on to learn about how your baby’s senses and intelligence develop during her incredible journey inside the womb. Week 7 – Your baby’s first touch receptors develop in his lips and cheeks. Over the next six months these will spread to everywhere else in his body. Week 11-15 – Your baby’s nose is developing. Week 13-15 – Your baby already possesses mature taste buds. She can detect strong flavors in the amniotic fluid, and will increase her swallowing in response to sweet tastes. Week 18 – Your baby’s ears and brain have developed sufficiently for him to begin to hear his mother’s heartbeat and voice, and the sound of blood rushing through the umbilical cord. Week 25 – Your baby’s ears are structurally complete. She can now clearly hear her mother’s voice and perhaps her father’s (if he is close enough). She will also startle in response to loud noises. By week 27 she may be able to recognize her parents’ voices. Week 26 – Your baby’s eyes open and start blinking! He will be able to see dim shapes by week 33, when the pupils of his eyes begin adjusting to changes in light. Week 28 – Your baby can taste more subtle flavors and is swallowing around a liter of amniotic fluid a day. She is also aware of odors. Until recently scientists believed that breathing was required for smelling. It’s now thought, however, that a baby picks up smells from the amniotic fluid as it passes over the nasal cavities. It’s likely that a baby’s first tastes and smells help prepare her for drinking breast milk, which changes flavor according to what the mother has been eating. Week 32 – Touch receptors have spread to all parts of your baby’s body, making it universally sensitive to temperature, pain and pressure. |

The busiest time in anyone’s life happens before birth! Not only will your baby grow from the size of a blueberry to being a fully functioning human being, but every tissue and organ of her body will grow out of what was once just a single cell. But there is far more to your baby’s time in the womb than simply growing physically. All of your baby’s senses are developing during his time in the womb. While sound will be his primary source of stimulation, touch, vision, taste and even smell will also help his brain to grow, as he begins learning about his parents and the outside world that will soon be his new home. Until the advent of four-dimensional ultrasound technology – enabling us to observe babies moving in the womb in real time – our ideas about a baby’s perceptions and experiences in the womb were extremely limited. Recent scientific research has revealed some startling facts about fetal development. Follow the timeline of Prenatal Milestones to learn more.
